I'm testing out a new program

So I'm testing out the possibility of using this new program Contribute to publish my posts and maybe change the way I blog hopefully, but probably not. Here is an image though so I can see how it goes.

This is a rough idea of how my photoshop looks when I'm doing editing.

Dancers From Both Sides

Here is one of the many assignments I've had placed before me recently. These performers were brought here to NMU as part of the cross-cultural program. They are originally from the cultural center in Ghana and are apparently they best representatives of traditional dance. I was only able to stay for about the first 10 min of the show.

In addition to the Dancers from Ghana There was another great event here this weekend that has to do with culture. There was a pow wow for one of the nations in the area up here. It was held in the arena they use for volleyball here. They performed their "grand entry" twice the other day. The music and pride in the culture is something that's pretty important. The singers in particularly were captivating and could help but remind me of what I consider a forgotten genocide. American Indians are one of the cultural casualties of the industrial revolution. I think it was because of how ahead of the curve they were. We have all this industrialization around us now and the focus is again beginning to shift toward living through the land instead of living off it. The colors that are used in the modern adaptations of the dancing robes are an interesting choice, and a necessarily deliberate choice because there is a distinction in moving away from what people consider "traditional".

You know, I just started playing around with HDR and setting masks in my Photoshop cs3. So for my photo today I decided to tray some real, real long exposures placed together.

This is how the photoshop automatically tone-mapped and meshed the three to four exposures.

These are the two ends of the HDR set before the automation.

I'm getting pretty tiered. Work all night then studying for my photo history mid-term at 11am. but here are a couple photos. The first one is something I had to take for the paper earlier tonight. The guy was introduced as the real life Hitch. he was brought to NMU and presented as the dating doctor.

Some of these are on the side of old Vegas with a little more active zoom with the shutter open. It is important to plan out the telephoto first to get the smooth exposure.

Well I have to apologize for the delay but yesterday was crazy and I didn't get done doing shoots and writing my artist statement for my newest round of light painting portraits until 3am and I didn't feel like dealing with a blog post, but now I'm in class and its the perfect time. I had to re-shoot photos for an article about pregnancy in college because my publisher for the magazine thought my previous photos looked "burdensome" which seems appropriate to me because I cant imagine being pregnant in college as a cake walk. Oh well you do what you have to for a pay check; oh yea, I'm not getting paid... Well here are the photos none the less. My friends son is named Ian and he was great at putting up with me and my strobes.
Thanks John.
